The ‘Townships” - This is where the reality of South Africa can be seen...can be
felt...can be experienced. Intense poverty intersperses with people extracting
themselves from this poverty - trying to take opportunities that were denied
them under the apartheid regime. Yet amidst all this poverty is saturated
colour...hope...optimism...smiling...laughter - an intensity of life that, despite the
poverty, despite the seemingly indiscriminate crime, can be felt, can be sensed,
can be savoured. Spending time in the townships is an intensely exhilarating
experience. This is where the real South Africa is unfolding

Limberlost has been an integral part of our Canadian experience, and it is
where we have come to really appreciate Nature within a Canadian context.
The beauty of Northern Ontario and that part of the world is something that I
am continuously trying to capture. These are some of the results.
